Recoil Analysis for Heavy Ion Beams

چکیده

Given that there are 94 clinics and more than 200,000 patients treated worldwide, proton carbon the most used heavily charged particles in heavy-ion (HI) therapy. However, is a recent increasing trend using new ion beams. Each HI has different effect on target. As each moves through tissue, they lose enormous energy collisions, so their range not long. Ionization accounts for majority of this loss energy. During interaction with target, do only ionize but also recoil. Recoil occurs by atom-to-atom collisions. With these crystalline atoms react combinations form cascades accordance energies. Thus, secondary create ionization In study, recoil values Boron(B), Carbon(C), Nitrogen(N), Oxygen(O) beams water phantom were computed 2.0-2.5 GeV Monte Carlo simulation results compared carbon. Our findings have shown C 35.3% B beams, while it 14.5% 118.7% less N O respectively. The peak amplitude 68.1% 13.1% 22.9% It was observed regular increase ions, unlike where such regularity could be seen. Moreover, gaps crystal structure increased as increases.

Heavy Ion Beams for Inertial Fusion

The United States' program in inertial confinement fusion (ICF) is described in this paper, with emphasis on the studies of the use of intense high energy beams of heavy ions to provide the power and energy nkeded to initiate thermonuclear burn. Preliminary calculations of the transport of intense ion beams in an electrostatic quadrupole focussing structure are discussed. In a companion paper i...

Compositional analysis of polycrystalline hafnium oxide thin films by heavy-ion elastic recoil detection analysis

The composition of polycrystalline hafnium oxide thin films has been measured by heavy-ion elastic recoil detection analysis (HI-ERDA). The films were deposited by high-pressure reactive sputtering (HPRS) with oxygen plasma at pressures between 0.8 and 1.6 mbar and during deposition times between 0.5 and 3.0 hours. Hydrogen was found to be the main impurity and its concentration increased with ...

Scintillating Screens Study for Leir/lhc Heavy Ion Beams

It has been observed on different machines that scintillating ceramic screens (like chromium doped alumina) are quickly damaged by low energy ion beams. These particles are completely stopped on the surface of the screens, inducing both a high local temperature increase and the electrical charging of the material. A study has been initiated to understand the limiting factors and the damage mech...

Diagnostics for Intense Heavy Ion Beams in the Hif-vnl*

Modern diagnostic techniques provide detailed information on beam conditions in injector, transport, and final focus experiments in the HIF-VNL. Parameters of interest include beam current, beam energy, transverse and longitudinal distributions, emittance, and space charge neutralization. Imaging techniques, based on kapton films and optical scintillators, complement and in some cases, may repl...
